Orchid Care
How to care for your Orchids

There are many different types of orchids, and each of them needs different environmental conditions and care. Important factors are light, temperature and water, as well as the right growing medium and fertilizer.

Most orchids you will find in garden centers ore flower shops are bread for easy care and fast growth. For most of these orchid the following care instructions apply. Just identify the type of orchid (for example Phalaenopsis) you have and click on the link below to get specific instructions that should be good for most plants in that group.

If you have "species" orchid plants, those are the wild forms of orchids, you need to be more careful, as they might have very specific needs that must be carefully controlled. In this case you might want to search for the exact name of the orchid on the internet or in books and try to get as much information as possible.

As always with plants, these care instructions for orchids are general guidelines, and I can not guarantee that they will work for all plants. Observe your orchid carefully and try to understand what might go wrong, and adjust the care to fit your specific conditions.
